Study Abroad
2017 Journal Entry: I plan to study abroad in Italy during the second semester of my junior year. I expect to learn about and experience other cultures as well as grow in my marketing competencies through taking classes.
The summer of 2018, I studied abroad in Rome, Italy, traveling to Florence, Sorento, Capri, Pompeii, Switzerland and more!
I partnered with my classmates to create audio and media productions at the American University of Rome. We launched three episodes plus I recorded an interview pre-episode for the “When in Rome” show, available on sound cloud! (Link at the end of this post). Additionally, I hosted “Why You Should Study Abroad with Nelson” under the podcast name “Daringly Julie," published to the AUR soundcloud page.
Creating story-telling content, coordinating media productions and implementing problem solving skills as we wandered the streets of Rome was a growing experience! I learned how to get outside of my comfort zone to try new experiences, it was so worth it! We got to watch a new gelato shop launch from a deconstructed building space to a high-traffic community meet-up location. Their business strategy included a grand-opening day, offering free chocolate dipping options for the first few days and hand out promotional flyers! Finally, I met so many amazing people along the way through this abroad experience. We discussed a variety of topics such as international business, how to launch a current business in a foreign market and other educational conversations.
Ciao!
